The majority of our business comes from monetizing scrap gold. The primary source of scrap gold is unwanted jewelry. Anything from 10 karat to 24 karat gold can be traded for cash at competitive prices. Gold coins can also be easily monetized and they have never been worth more! In addition to scrap jewelry and gold coins, we also specialize in converting other scraps, such as dental gold. In many cases, scrap gold is just collecting dust and has little hope of being used in the future. So why wait? We can give you the best gold prices in Pittsburgh. We appologize but we do not buy gold: flake, wire, dust, and leaf.
In addition to gold, we also deal in other precious metals, such as silver and platinum. In the case of silver, many people have unmatched flatware or other silver serving pieces gradually tarnishing in a cabinet or trunk in their home. These items are easily and quickly priced and can be sold for cash. In addition, silver jewelry and wiring can also be monetized. While platinum is much rarer than silver and gold, it is often used in specific applications, such as platinum-rhodium thermocouple wire, platinum crucibles, and platinum medical wire. In addition to platinum jewelry and other alloys, even small amounts of scrap platinum can be worth a lot of money, and just like gold and silver, we offer the best platinum prices in Pittsburgh.

Have you ever been given a gift card for your birthday or Christmas and do not expect to use it? We can exchange gift cards from major brands and stores for cash. The list of stores that we can accept include, but are not limited to, Macy’s, Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, and Sears. All that we ask is that the gift card is at least 25 dollars in value. So don’t let those gift cards go unspent in your wallet.
Under Pennsylvania law, any precious metal dealer or pawn broker has to fill out a transaction report when the customer sells their items. This report requires your name, address, height, weight, etc. be taken from your current drivers license. There are only 2 copies of this transaction record sheet. One copy is sent to the local police department and the second is for our records. Your personal information is not sold or shared in any way, shape or form.
There is no minimum amount required to sell your items to The Gold Buyers of Pittsburgh. You can sell a single earring if you want.
Gram, Pennyweight (DWT) and Ounce are different measuring standards used to weigh precious metals. Each standard can be converted to the other using a conversion formula. Typically we convert our measurements into Grams when informing you how much your items weigh. Grams is a more appropriate measurement for items such as jewelry. NOTE: Many of our competitors and online metal buyers use the various measurements to mislead the client. Pennyweight is a measurement often advertised since the price per Pennyweight yields a higher payout. What is often unknown to the client is 1 Pennyweight is a fraction of a Gram. Since jewelry and miscellaneous items of Gold rarely equal 1 Pennyweight we consider it to be an inappropriate measuring standard for small items with little weight.

The London Gold and Silver Fixings are the internationally published benchmarks for precious metals. They are fully transparent and are therefore used to deal in large amounts, or to achieve the accepted average price of the metal. As a benchmark, many other financial instruments are priced off the fixing, including cash-settled swaps and options. The silver fixing started in 1897 and the gold fixing in 1919.
Fixings are an open process at which market participants can transact business on the basis of a single quoted price. Orders can be changed throughout the proceedings as the price is moved higher and lower until such time as buyers' and sellers' orders are satisfied and the price is said to be 'fixed'. Orders executed at the fixings are conducted as principal-to-principal transactions between the client and the dealer through whom the order is placed.
The five members of the Gold Fixing are NM Rothschild & Sons Limited, The Bank of Nova ScotiaMocatta, Deutsche Bank AG, HSBC Bank USA, and Societe Generale. The three members of the Silver Fixings are The Bank of Nova ScotiaMocatta, Deutsche Bank AG, and HSBC Bank USA.
Fixings are given in both AM and PM times because the fixing closing process is conducted twice a day by telephone, once at 10:30 GMT (4:30 AM EST) and once at 15:00 GMT (9:00 AM EST).
The market closes between 4:15pm until 8am, Monday through Friday and stays closed through the weekend.
